Winters on Rathtrevor Beach

 In Beaches, events, holidays

Rathtrevor Beach is a really popular in summer months – but it is equally as beautiful in winter months. There are no crowded beaches – just peace, quiet, and solitude.

Enjoy a relaxing stroll on the beach, get in some storm-watching, or maybe take in a show presented by some frolicking dolphins playing to a crowd of barking sea lions (a rare sight, but one that does happen on occasion).

Majestic old growth trees, beautiful ocean sunsets, and an inviting, calm, wide sandy beach with cozy campsites nestled amongst mature Douglas fir trees makes Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park one of the premier vacation destinations on Vancouver Island.

At low tide the ocean recedes almost a kilometer: there is nothing quite watching the tide roll over the sand during the winter months, with the area’s temperature being quite warm considering its northerly location.

Rathtrevor Beach is ideal for a relaxed family outing. Sit back and soak up the seaside atmosphere or take a walk through the wooded upland area of the park. The park also features a large day-use area, perfect for an afternoon picnic. For your convenience, the park has a concession managed by the Park Operator. Not only is there all that, but our Ocean Trails Resort is just steps away from globally acclaimed beach.
