#ThrowBackThursday: The Rod & Gun Bar & Grill
Vancouver Island is rich with history, and some of it sits right here in Parksville.
The Rod & Gun was established in 1898 as a hotel when our town had a population of just a few hundred people. Hunters and fishermen often came in for a hot meal after hanging their catch of the day on the porch—breakfast, lunch, dinner and accommodation only cost $1.50!
The prices may have changed and the hotel has long since closed, but the pub continues to be popular. In 2014 a new “Grill” side was added allowing for family dining so that people of all ages can enjoy “The Gun.” In addition to the two dining areas, there is also a roof top patio, garden patio, and plenty of live entertainment.
The Rod & Gun is just a 7 minute drive from Ocean Trails. If you’re looking for tasty and fresh dishes that focus on supporting the local community, head on over and dine in our Island’s history!
