The Warm Sands of Rathtrevor Beach
Surrounded by majestic old-growth forests and mountain vistas, Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park is one of the top vacation spots on Vancouver Island.
Rathtrevor Beach is perhaps most famous for its wide expanse of sand. At low tide, the ocean recedes almost a kilometer, allowing visitors to wander out along the beach and explore the shoreline. The shallow waters bake in the summer sun, turning the chilly Pacific warm and ideal for swimming. The park also features day-use areas ideal for picnicking.
Along with beach fun, Rathtrevor Beach is a world-class bird-watching location, especially in the spring when seabirds congregate for the herring spawn. It’s also one of the best places on all of Vancouver Island to spot migrating Brant geese.
Conveniently located only 2 hours from downtown Victoria, Rathtrevor Beach is a must-visit spot for your staycation bucket list.
