The Four-Legged Tenants of Coombs Old Country Market
The Old Country Market started as a roadside fruit stand in 1973, providing fresh produce to travelers heading to the west coast of Vancouver Island. Over the years it has evolved into a landmark of Coombs and is only a 15-minute drive from the comfort of Ocean Trails Resort.
The Goats first appeared approximately 40 years ago. It was the Coombs Country Fair weekend, and the grass on the roof of the market was higher than Kristian liked. Legend has it that after a few drinks, Larry suggested they borrow some goats to mow the grass and perhaps provide some entertainment to passing cars.
Needless to say, the goats became permanent tenants of the Coombs Old Country Market that day.
