SURFING VANCOUVER ISLAND

 In Beaches, events, holidays

Every year countless visitors come to Vancouver Island to surf, taking the long journey along the Port Alberni Highway from Parksville and Qualicum Beach to Port Alberni, Ucluelet, Tofino, and Long Beach.

It’s a beautiful journey through the interior of Vancouver Island along old coastal roads, with a destination worthy of the trip – just don’t stop by Island Surf Co along the way!

This little gem of a surf store isn’t in Tofino like you would think it would be, instead its perched along the old highway on the way. But that’s not what makes the store so special. What makes this quaint little shop unique is the products inside: Island Surf Co is one of the few shops in the entire world that sells a wide range of the top brand-name surfboards.

More often than not, a surfer would have to go directly to each individual brand store to get the brands, but owner Colin Kearns – a former competitive surfer – has longstanding relationships with these companies, allowing him to stock their products. Island Surf Co isn’t so much a surf store as it is a gallery of the art of surfing.

Make a point of stopping there the next time you visit!
