PARKSVILLE’S SUMMER SANDS

 In Activities, Beaches, events, holidays

How do you feel about spectacular sandy beaches? Long walks during low tides? World-class sandcastle competitions?

Parksville has some of the most incredible beaches on Canada’s West Coast, with miles of silky smooth sand and tides that descend into the Salish Sea. And, as an added bonus, one of the biggest events on Vancouver Island is right around the corner: The Parksville Beach Festival!

The Parksville Beach Festival and its world-renowned sandcastle competition (itself a World Championship Sand Sculpting qualification event) are hallmarks of summer here on Vancouver Island, with more than 100,000 people attending last year alone. That’s a heck of a lot of people for a quaint little town of under 12,000!

This year’s festival runs from July 15 until August 21, with the sandcastle competition beginning July 15 and the exhibition beginning on July 18. Four weeks of sand and sun on one of the most spectacular beaches in the Pacific Northwest, looking out at the Salish Sea.

If you’re looking for a quiet spot away from the festivities – perhaps with its own incredible sandy beach – we have you covered.

…and did we mention there will be fireworks? We can’t wait!
