PARKSVILLE IN BLOOM
We absolutely adore this time of year.
Living on Vancouver Island, we are quite fortunate among Canadians: the winter never truly grips our corner of Canada. Snowfalls are rare. And, luckily for us, spring tends to arrive early.
Before the last icicles drop off the eaves on the East Coast, our first flowers are in bloom, and Parksville comes alive.
One of the best examples of this transformation is around the grounds here at Ocean Trails, where our groundskeepers work to showcase the diversity of beauty we are surrounded by. It’s wonderful.
It’s also the perfect time to start spending time outdoors, as hiking the trails out to Englishman River Falls, Little Qualicum River Falls, or even Cathedral Grove on the Port Alberni Highway become magnificent landscapes showcasing nature’s beauty. There’s just something about old growth trees and blooming flowers that makes the world around you start to really feel alive.
Arguably our favourite time of year – it really is hard to beat swimming off Rathtrevor Beach in the summer – we cannot recommend enough a visit to Parksville in the spring.
When the goats are back on the roof at Coombs Country Market, that’s when you know it’s time to visit!
