Off the Beaten Path: Horne Lake

 In Accommodations, Activities, Beaches, holidays

While much better known than Spider Lake and Illusion Lake – and sharing the same highway turnoff – we still consider Horne Lake to be Off the Beaten Path.

Yes, Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park receives thousands of visitors each year, and yes, the dirt road out there is extremely worn – but we’re not talking about the caves. We’re talking about Horne Lake, that beautiful body of water in the middle of Vancouver Island, surrounded on all sides by primordial mountains carved out during the last ice age.

And if you happen to be interested in caving or spelunking, well, there’s that too 🙂
