LONG STAY DAY TRIPS: TRIBUNE BAY
Many of our guests elect to enjoy longer stays when they visit Ocean Trails, staying for weeks or even months at a time. While Parksville and Qualicum Beach are known for being timeless, relaxed areas, sometimes you just need to take a day to go out and explore something new and different. Sometimes you just need a good day trip!
One of our favourite local adventures is to take a short drive and a couple even-shorter ferry rides to Hornby Island and Tribune Bay Provincial Park.
Isolated, unique, and with a spectacular beach, Tribune Bay has become something of a local hotspot in recent years. It’s not uncommon in the summer to find dozens of boats from up and down the coast – and sometimes even from around the world – anchored in the bay with their passengers enjoying the silky-smooth sandy beach.
Hornby Island itself is full of character, and adjacent to Tribune Bay you’ll find the general store, food, and shopping. Just be sure to keep in mind that you are officially not allowed alcohol on the beach or in the park.
It’s a fantastic and fun way to spend a day – just be sure to not lose track of time, as ferry sailings from Hornby to Denman wrap up for the evening at 6:00 pm, and from Denman to Buckley Bay, Vancouver Island at 8:30 pm!
