Learn to Forage Shellfish for a True West Coast Experience

 In Activities, Beaches, Salish Sea

Have you always been curious about foraging shellfish? Our location right on the Pacific Ocean provides us easy access to seafood people inland only dream of. And while catching a fish and preparing it is fairly simple (for some anyway!), shellfish require their own skillset.

On April 19 from 2:00 – 4:00pm take part in foraging for wild edibles with the Brant Festival. You’ll get to learn about Pacific oysters and Manila clams at Vancouver Island University’s shellfish research farm. More than just a lesson on shucking and eating, participants will also learn how to identify different types of shellfish and hear about the First Nation’s use of the delicacies.

Just a short drive away and costing $30 per person, this is a true west coast experience that you can bring home with you, or at least to your kitchen at Ocean Trails. For more information and registration details please visit the Brant Festival website.
