For Our Mothers
Mother’s Day is one of the most important days of the year, not just because we acknowledge the incredible women in our lives, but because we never seem to acknowledge them enough.
The holiday is just over a century old now, having been founded in the United States by a dedicated daughter, Anna Jarvis, who had lost her mother, Ann Reeves, in 1905. After campaigning for three years, in 1908 the first Mother’s Day was held in West Virginia, and after that other states came on board and the rest, as they say, is history.
Are you doing something special for your mother today? If you’re looking around the Parksville and Qualicum Beach area for something to do, there are a few options:
- Take a long walk on Rathtrevor Beach – one of our favourite activities no matter the holiday.
- Take your mother out for brunch, lunch, or dinner.
- Send your mother to a spa – there are several in the area!
You’ll notice we didn’t include flowers on the list – that’s because those are a given, obviously 🙂
