Fall on the South Island
Even though it’s hard to bid farewell to summer, fall is a beautiful season on Vancouver Island and there are a wide range of things to look forward to. From outdoor activities to festivals, we have compiled a few different activities around the South Island that are specific to the multi-coloured season!
- Taste over a dozen craft ciders at Merridale’s Cider Harvest Festival on September 30th located in Cobble Hill.
- Get lost in a corn maze! There are quite a few around the island but the largest is Pendray Farms in Victoria featuring 6km of trails across 14 acres. The McNab’s corn maze is closer to us in Parksville, located between Nanaimo and Ladysmith and spanning 7 acres.
- “A night on Broadway” is the theme for this year’s Bite of Nanaimo event on October 19th. The island’s original culinary event, enjoy sample servings of a range of food and beverages!
- The Salmon Run at Goldstream Park north of Victoria takes place from late October to early December. A feat of nature, witness salmon as they complete their journey upstream to lay their eggs.
Of course, Rathtrevor Beach is beautiful year-round and we are surrounded by walking trails and other nature attractions right here in Parksville. To read more about things to do this fall, check out the Activities section of our website!
